If you are looking to make electronic music with your computer then you will probably need a piece of software that can make this happen for you.
Making music online or with music making software need not be a complicated or expensive endeavor by any means. If you are somewhat new to the music making scene then you really want to keep it as simple as possible in the beginning. Making your own music should be fun...remember that!
While there are endless choices for a music making software program you would be wise to ease into this (some programs can be a bit difficult to learn) unless you are a musical whiz with tons of experience...of course if this were true then you probably wouldn't be reading this article.
The main points to consider when researching your choices in music software are as follows:
Library: Your software choice should include a wide variety of beats already installed. Some programs come with only a couple of styles or genres and then charge you for additional beats...this can add up quick.
Ease of Use: The software needs to be fairly easy to use; something a beginner can navigate through with relative ease. However, you should expect at the very least, a small learning curve.
Price Tag: This one is obvious. If you are just starting out making your own beats then you really want to do this as inexpensively as possible until you are ready to "step it up". Don't think for a minute that it will costs hundreds of dollars for a quality piece of music making software.
A quality music making software program that is very inexpensive is a good thing. A high quality piece of software for making music that is inexpensive and is also easy and fun to use is a very, very good thing.
All of your ideas for your own music need to be able to flow freely from your head through your software program so you can bring them to life and be able to hear them so you can get your beats just right. The last thing you want a this point is to get bogged down with a complicated interface. Keeping this part simple allows your creativity to flow.

The biggest point to remember is this: Keep it fun! If making your own music seems too difficult, you will probably avoid it. But if the right piece of software makes it fun to create your own beats then you may just forget to eat (you know what I mean?). We like to do fun things...period.

Music piracy is stealing. And it does hurt the musician. Over the past decade, we have gradually shifted from physical distribution to digital distribution with the advancement of mp3 players, specifically the advancements of Apple and it's “iProducts”. Digital distribution now accounts for more than 52% of the music industry in the US.
But there was a time during the shift when people had difficulty placing “value” on a digital product, with tangible products being of more value. This is what led people to believe that they aren't really “stealing”, because a file can be duplicated an infinite number of times and not “cost” the musician anything. But it does cost us.

Pandora Predicted To 'Dominate' Web Radio For Next Few Years
By Clyde SmithWith concerns about profitability and iTunes Radio about to launch, there's a lot of uncertainty around Pandora's future. But one recent report from IBISWorld claims that Pandora will continue to dominate web radio. Given that its stock recently hit new highs and mobile advertising is showing strong growth, Pandora actually has a lot going for it at the moment.
The recently teased IBISWorld report (via RAIN) notes that over the last five years: "The number of mobile internet connections grew at an annualized rate of 53.0% during the five-year period. 'As such, internet radio's audience increased an annualized 16.5% during the same period, far outpacing traditional radios,' according to IBISWorld industry analyst David Yang. Consequently, internet radio broadcasters have taken a larger slice of advertising revenue from the $17.3-billion Radio Broadcasting industry." Though citing positive usage and ad growth stats for web radio, the report also pointed to challenges with profitability due, in part, to the much higher royalty rates web radio broadcasters pay than do terrestrial radio broadcasters.
The IBISWorld analysts expect leaders such as Pandora, iHeart Radio and, most likely, the soon-to-launch iTunes Radio to maintain their lead with Pandora continuing to "dominate the marketplace as new entrants will have a difficult time attracting listeners away from well-established services." They also expect future competition to be limited, in part, "as new entrants will hesitate to enter the industry due to the inability of major players to operate profitably." So Pandora's leading in a race with many challenges.
Pandora's Mobile Ads A Bright Spot Pandora recently removed the 40-hour limit on free mobile listening with the expectation that this move might undermine subscriber growth. They maintain that such a move is positive because they've found ways to curtail those who go over 40 hours. In addition, this move "reinforces the success we are having with monetizing and selling ads on mobile platforms," according to chief revenue officer John Trimble. Pandora's mobile advertising is said to account for "70% of Pandora's total ad revenue."
It turns out that some of that growth is in local advertising, an area in which Pandora is investing additional resources. As Trimble revealed: "We've grown the sales force by 73% year-over-year, and a lot of that is to compete directly for that $15 billion of broadcast radio advertising.
